Ombre Hello

The challenge this week at SCS is to create something that has light to dark colors.....this technique is also called Ombre which is defined as "graduated colors from light to dark on a surface". Starting with the lightest shade of a color (any color), use light, medium, and dark shades of the same color to create a background or main image.

I'm finding this particular quilt pattern intriguing these days. First of all it's easier than most and you get some wonderful movement with colors. I found instructions on Nancy Riley's blog. Now I can't stop making the squares. I think it works so well with the graduating colors in purple (or any) colors. The daisies are a favorite of mine to make. Big impact with not much fuss. I used Martha Stewarts daisy punch and a Punch Bunch small sun punch. Each daisy has four layers plus one in green. The Verve small "hello" sentiment fits nicely in the one inch square.
